Clara absolutely loves her fish. And it’s one of the quickest sources of protein to cook!
As with all our weaning recipes, we try to keep things as simple as possible. As much as we love food we don’t want to be stood in front of the oven all day!
To cook the fish: we steam our fish fillets or lightly saute with vegetables on the hob. To steam, we place the fish fillet in the top of a two tier steamer and place boiling water in the bottom tier (this is perfect to use for simultaneously cooking potatoes). It takes 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the fillet.
To cook the vegetables: we sometimes steam the vegetables, sometimes we saute them. Either way, we try to stick to one pan if possible as nobody enjoys washing up, even with a dishwasher! To saute the vegetables, add about 300ml of water to a deep frying pan and add your vegetables. Cook until the vegetables are soft and can be sliced smoothly with a sharp knife. Add more water as necessary. The fish can also be pan fried in with the vegetables.
Once all ingredients are cooked, blend until the desired consistency is reached. We add either formula or water to thin. Serve immediately or chill in the fridge. If no ingredients were previously frozen then you can freeze what’s left for another day.
